DONCASTER – Two women were injured in a disturbing late-night incident after shots were fired into a residential property in what police are treating as a “targeted attack”.
South Yorkshire Police were alerted to the violent episode on Almond Avenue at approximately 11.35pm on Sunday, 20 April 2025, following reports of a firearm discharge.
Armed Response Uncovers Shocking Scene
On arrival, officers discovered that a suspect had entered the property through a window before violently assaulting the two women inside with a wooden object. The attacker then fled the scene, leaving the victims in need of medical attention.
Both women were transported to the hospital. Thankfully, their injuries were neither life-threatening nor life-altering.
Specialist armed police responding to the emergency found clear evidence that a gun had been discharged within the premises, intensifying fears within the local community. Investigators have since confirmed this was not a random act, but a deliberate and targeted assault.
Police Condemn ‘Mindless Violence’
Detective Chief Inspector Ronayne condemned the incident in strong terms: “We will not tolerate gun crime here in South Yorkshire, and we are working hard to piece together the circumstances of this incident and bring the person responsible to justice.
In this instance, a firearm was discharged late at night in a residential area of Doncaster, and it is this kind of mindless violence and criminality that puts innocent people in danger.
We understand news of this firearms discharge will have caused considerable concern in the local community and that is why our officers remain at the scene today conducting further enquiries and carrying out house-to-house visits.
I want to thank local residents for their ongoing cooperation, and I would urge anyone with information that could help our investigation to please come forward. The information you provide is vital and could be the missing piece of the jigsaw that allows us to identify the person responsible for this crime.”
The investigation remains active, with officers still gathering evidence and speaking to residents nearby. Extra patrols are being carried out in the area to offer reassurance and maintain community safety.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area or who may have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage to come forward.
