A man has been charged with murder after a young man was found fatally stabbed in the quiet village of Northaw, Hertfordshire.
Emergency services rushed to Cattlegate Road shortly after 10.45am on Tuesday, 23 April. There, they discovered a man in his twenties suffering from serious stab wounds. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he tragically died at the scene.
Police launched a swift investigation following the incident. A man was arrested shortly afterwards in connection with the stabbing.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “We can confirm that a man has now been charged with murder following the incident in Northaw. He remains in custody and is due to appear before magistrates in the coming days.”
The identity of the victim has yet to be officially released. However, officers have confirmed that his next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
The tight-knit Northaw community has been left stunned by the violent events. One local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “You don’t expect something like this to happen here. It’s such a quiet village. Everyone’s really shocked.”
Police have also stepped up patrols in the area to reassure residents and assist in the ongoing investigation.
