A motorcyclist has been hospitalised following a collision with a car on the A2 near Dartford during Monday morning’s rush hour. The incident took place on the London-bound carriageway, close to the A2018 junction, at approximately 7.30am today (8 April).
Emergency services, comprising Kent Police officers and South East Coast Ambulance crews, promptly attended the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the rider injured at the roadside.
He received immediate medical attention before being transported to the hospital, where he remains under observation. The severity of his injuries has not been officially confirmed, but no life-threatening details have been released at this stage.
Heavy Congestion Cleared After Temporary Road Closures
The crash led to significant travel disruption, with authorities enforcing lane closures to allow emergency crews to work safely.
Motorists experienced delays of up to an hour, and congestion stretched over four miles along the A2 as traffic ground to a halt during peak commuter time. Traffic has since returned to normal following the reopening of all lanes.
A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed the details of the incident: “Kent Police was called at 7.34am on Tuesday 8 April to a collision involving a car and a motorbike on the London bound carriageway of the A2 Near Dartford.
Officers and paramedics attended the scene, where the motorcyclist was treated for injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, and the bike was recovered.”
While the scene has now been cleared, authorities are reminding drivers to remain vigilant, particularly during busy periods. Investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing, and no arrests have been reported at this time.
