Kelty Hearts midfielder Ross Cunningham has earned a prestigious spot in the PFA Scotland League One Team of the Year.
The 26-year-old playmaker, who has been in exceptional form this season, netted 12 goals to finish joint-top scorer in League One. His tally puts him level with Cove Rangers’ striker Mitch Megginson.
The honour, run by PFA Scotland – the official union for professional footballers in the country – carries real weight as it’s voted for by players across the league. Importantly, players are not allowed to vote for their own teammates, adding extra weight to Cunningham’s recognition.
Only Kelty Player Honoured
Cunningham stands as Kelty Hearts’ only player included in this year’s Team of the Year. He earned his spot in midfield alongside Arbroath’s title-winner Fraser Taylor and Cove Rangers’ Fraser Fyvie. It highlights just how consistent and impactful Cunningham has been throughout the season.
The League One XI is shaped in a 4-3-3 formation and features the standout performers in each position. Here’s a look at the full line-up:

Recognition Among Peers
Cunningham’s selection isn’t just a personal achievement – it’s a proud milestone for Kelty Hearts as well. “To be voted in by your fellow professionals means a lot. It shows your work hasn’t gone unnoticed,” said one club source.
The PFA Scotland awards night is set for Sunday, 4 May, in Glasgow, where the organisation will also unveil its highly anticipated Player of the Year winners from every division.
Ross Cunningham’s place in the League One Team of the Year underlines his influence on Kelty Hearts’ season. His sharp eye for goal and consistent midfield dominance have earned the admiration of his rivals and peers alike.
As the PFA Scotland awards night nears, all eyes will be on the final honours – but for Cunningham, the recognition is already well-deserved.
