A dedicated Toolstation colleague from Peterborough is gearing up to tackle the London Marathon in a bid to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Lewis Ellis, who works as a National Trade Sales Manager for the retailer, will be among four Toolstation representatives participating in the 26.2-mile race.
He will be joined on the day by fellow employees Amy Megicks, Jonathan Rendall, and Millie Constance, as the team aims to raise over £10,000 for the cancer charity. The initiative marks another chapter in Toolstation’s ongoing support for Macmillan, with previous groups of employees having taken part in the London Marathon in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
This consistent commitment reflects the retailer’s strong relationship with the charity, which is now in its fifth consecutive year.
Lewis is no stranger to charity runs, having already completed a 10km race and a half marathon last year in support of Macmillan. An avid follower of the popular #RunTok community on social media, Lewis finds inspiration and motivation in the shared passion for running and charity work.
Speaking ahead of the marathon, Lewis shared his personal motivation behind the cause: “As we know, there are now almost 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and this is set to rise. Like many, I have had friends and family that have been impacted.
I have the greatest opportunity, like many others, to help raise awareness and funds to support this life-changing support network. I have been incredibly humbled at these running events to see loved ones being celebrated by runners and spectators. This only spurs me on to do even more.”
Fundraising Beyond the Finish Line
To support their ambitious £10,000 target, Lewis and his teammates have organised a variety of fundraising activities. These include bake sales and a sponsored fun run involving Toolstation colleagues from across the business.
Supporters can contribute to the campaign by donating through their official JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/team/toolstation-london-marathon-2025.
2025 also marks a significant milestone for Toolstation’s partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support. Over the past five years, the retailer has raised an impressive £3 million for the charity. These funds have played a critical role in enabling Macmillan to provide practical and emotional support to individuals living with cancer and their loved ones.
In real terms, this funding could cover the cost of employing 84 support workers or 46 Macmillan Nurses for a full year—services that are essential to the wellbeing of thousands across the UK.
Michael Stickland, Director of Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy at Macmillan, praised the ongoing support from Toolstation and its customers: “Three million pounds! That’s a whole lot of screws and sockets, some well-broken-in running shoes and seriously big hearts.
We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with Toolstation and we can’t thank the team and customers enough for the continued support. Reaching this incredible sum represents collective kindness and dedication and is a powerful reminder that when we come together, we can achieve extraordinary things.”
